Several things can be checked for a cause in this case.
It should be burning somewhat clean.
The soot is telling you there s improper combustion which is leaving unburned fuel as it is venting.
And this is all i could find.
Fan is running but furnace produces no heat.
It is not normal to see soot on your exhaust vent.
Combinations save money if you can get an air conditioner with a heat pump that should save you a few bucks and lets you use your unit all year round.

The dsi is an acronym direct spart ignition it s an electronic igniter that uses a spark ignites the gas air mix.
Anything under 10 5 will result in the fan operating but just blowing cold air as the gas valves will not open.
